The short version

initium-me.com is a company website, not an advertising platform. It needs almost nothing stored on your device to work, lets you switch off its own analytics cookies at any time, and asks before loading the one third-party service that sets cookies.

What cookies and similar storage are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Local storage and session storage are similar browser features that keep a small value on your device without sending it back automatically. All are used to remember something between pages or visits, and the same rules apply to each, so this policy covers them together.

First-party storage is set by this website and read only by it; our analytics cookies are first party. Third-party storage is set by another organisation whose content or service appears on the page; on this site that is only Google, through reCAPTCHA on the contact form.

How we use them

Strictly necessary. These make the site work and remember the choices you make on it: your answer in the cookie banner, whether you paused the site’s animation, and a chat you started with the “Chat with us” button so it carries on across pages. They are all first party, hold no personal data, and are never used to identify or follow you. The administration area of the site, which only Initium staff can sign in to, keeps staff signed in with a session cookie; visitors never receive it. Strictly necessary storage does not need your consent, and the banner shows it as always on.

Analytics (first party). To know which pages are read, every page tells our own server its address, the site that linked to it, the browser’s time zone, the browser language and the screen size. The country of a visit is derived from the IP address at the moment of the visit, by looking it up in a database kept on our own server; the address itself is not kept, only the two-letter country code. None of that identifies you. Unless you switch this category off, the page also sets two cookies holding random values: a visitor identifier that lasts twelve months and a session identifier that expires after thirty minutes without a page view. They let us count unique visitors, new and returning visitors, how long a visit lasts and which pages follow one another. The values are random, are never combined with anything that could name you, and never leave this site. If you switch the category off, both cookies are deleted at once, none is set again and each page view is counted on its own.

Human verification (Google reCAPTCHA). The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA, the “I’m not a robot” check, so that the inquiries reaching our team are written by people. When it loads, Google’s script runs on the page and Google sets its own cookies, which Google uses to tell humans from automated traffic. Because these are a third party’s cookies set for its own purposes, we ask for your consent first. Until you give it, the contact page shows an explanation in place of the check, and you can still reach us by e-mail at info@initium-me.com.

When reCAPTCHA loads, Google may also read cookies that already exist for google.com in your browser, for example because you are signed in to a Google account. How Google handles that data is described in Google’s privacy policy and terms of service.

What we do not do

No third-party analytics. Page statistics are counted by our own server. No IP address is stored, nothing is sent to any analytics company, and visits that look automated are ignored.
No advertising, no social pixels. There are no ad networks, no LinkedIn or Facebook pixels and no retargeting. The LinkedIn and YouTube links in the footer are ordinary links; those sites set their cookies only once you are on them.
No fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking. We do not build a profile of you and do not share browsing data with anyone.
Our own fonts. The Poppins typeface is served from this site, not from a third-party service.
Other Initium services have their own policies. The Engagement Center and the careers portal are separate services on their own addresses, with their own notices.

Your choices

The first time you visit, a banner explains the two optional categories. Our analytics cookies are on until you say otherwise; Google reCAPTCHA stays off until you allow it. “Accept all” allows both; “Essential only” switches both off; “Manage choices” lets you decide category by category. Google’s script never loads before you have answered.

You can also delete cookies and site data in your browser’s settings at any time; the banner then appears again on your next visit.

Legal basis and your rights

Strictly necessary storage is used because the site cannot work without it. First-party analytics cookies are used on the basis of your consent, which the banner records and which you may withdraw at any time with the same effect as never having given it. Google reCAPTCHA is loaded only on the basis of your consent. How Initium handles personal information in its services is described in the privacy & terms.

Changes and questions
